It's basically a unit designation having nothing to do with whether you are jump qualified.
The Airborne tab for the 82nd is white letters on blue, as was the 11th Airborne Division. 17th Airborne was gold on black. 173rd Airborne Brigade is white on blue.

The airborne segments on the Infantry School - jump school and Ranger Training Brigade - use white on blue.

The Ranger Regiment doesn't wear an airborne tab at all.

LRS units are airborne, but I don't know if they wear (wore - I'm not sure any of them still exist) airborne tabs.
Thanks. The only ones I saw regularly in full color were the SF (Had some SF guys (Cadre and reservists going for their commission) in the Army ROTC detachment at my school). Most of the other Airborne unit patches I saw were subdued as they were in cammies at the time or in whatever the Army called the green shirt worn in an office environment. Very rarely around them when they were in Class A's.

They want to be unarmed in cities without police, yeah that will work out just fine.

It will work out quite fine for me. Although I think it will go slightly differently for them than they imagine. But then again, they may not be mentally able to imagine...

I saw that same article at City Journal. I sent a message to the author asking why he didn't expand on what the "confounding factors" were that effected the statistics.

My suspicion is that the biggest is the crime rate, especially the rate of violent crime by blacks. But you can't mention that, at least not without blaming white racism, without being called a racist.

Turn that argument back on the person with actual statistics.

"You're a racist because you don't care about black crime victims."

I've tried that. Didn't work. You're still racist for noticing that.

There was a "friend" on FB commenting on how if you're not actively jabbering about fighting racism, you're supporting it. I left a pretty detailed comment on some of the items I think actively hurt the black community (and the poor white community):
- teachers' unions that care more about protecting teachers than about educating students functionally,
- schools that pass students on who are functionally illiterate and innumerate,
- financially predatory institutions that encourage debt rather than savings and frugality,
- politicians who encourage a victim mentality,
- a culture that celebrates violence, misogyny, divorce, and anger,
- fashion that promotes looking like a gangster,
- militarized police,
- a government that promotes dependency,
- etc.

I said up front that all these things affect poor blacks and poor whites, and I think it's heinous that those groups of people (black and white) prey on other groups (black and white), and that teaching the prey groups how to avoid the rapacious predation would lead us to a better place with less misery. I was pretty much vilified. I think working against all the things I listed there would vastly improve black lives. But I was told I was wrong.

Whatcha gonna do?
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Yeah, the wife has been saying similar things, with an added helping of you can't call me racist and you are racist for thinking that you can tell blacks what they are allowed to think.

One of the many reasons she is a keeper. :P
