Fill: Who knows? Probably the same type of situation I would legitimately expect to encounter that would require me to use my CCW. However, there are times/places I cannot avoid that require me to not carry a weapon. It would be nice to have the skills to attempt SOMETHING other than blindly charging an attacker or cowering under a desk. Does that answer your question?
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Somebody needs to hurry up and invent Coup de Vitesse :geek:

I don't really have an answer for this, as I'm fat & lazy. My preferred martial art is Tae Kwon Colt (.45 cal school).

Forget that - I want Sinanju, if for nothing else than hilarously obnoxious Korean grand masters.

That's good input. My response is that you would probably benefit more from focusing on the health benefits of your chosen style, and mix up your training. For example: Put in 6 months of TKD (or whatever) to get cardio/flex/dexterity back, cut your TKD down to once a month and fill the other 3 weeks with something else for a couple months. Keep an eye out for Groupons or adverts for '3 discounted/free training sessions'. Go gypsy until you find a gym you love. It's a great way to keep your training vivacious and driven.

And if possible, find a partner - it'll save you a sizable amount of training time and money.
1) Most gyms will cut you a discount if you sign up as two or more. Maybe < $10/month, but a buck's a buck.
2) You'll keep each other honest, and drag each other to training.
3) You can coach each other for free. Your partner is a real-time feedback machine who can help correct form and improve technique, outside of class

But you started by wanting a black belt. All I can tell you about that is the more work you put in for your black belt, the more it'll mean when you receive it. You can hit a McDojo and pick up a belt in ~ 18 months, show up and pay your monthly bill.

just my 2 cents, but I'm heading back to the gym this week after a long hiatus, and shopping around for a good school nearby.

Ah, the disciples of Master Wang.

BTW - is the bad dubbing in the movie intentional? It's so awful, it must be...

It's not dubbed, Chiun is played by Joel Gray, from Cabaret. 8-)

The really funny part is, if anything, they're downplaying Chiun's behavior and abilities compared to the books.

Seriously, he'd beat Sing like a redheaded stepchild.

I'm reminded of both the restaurant fight scene from Kill Bill and the Army of Smiths fight scene from the second Matrix movie.

Smith had the right idea.
