Alan Korwin has some thoughts about the subject and discusses them at great length in the book. He solicited input from many sources. Ayoob was one of those sources.
Most of the premise of the book is that you have the right, granted by the Constitution to NOT incriminate yourself. A 911 telephone call - CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU in a court of law. The 911 call does not allow you to remain silent and not speak to the authorities.
Alan's suggested 911 statement is ten simple words long.
Of the many lawyers and others involved in Alan's research, most did not agree about most of the subject of the book. Alan suggests calling your lawyer first and having him/her call 911. The arguements against doing it that way were numerous and mostly speculation as to the reception by the legal system/jury. No one could cite case law that showed this to be an unacceptable practice."I've just been attacked. Send an ambulance and police to (location)." Hang up. Call your lawyer. Wait.
Alan himself spends much of the book speculating on the expected outcomes of different approaches.
The first and the only firm suggestion Alan makes is that if you expect to defend yourself at any time with deadly force, have already made contact with an attorney and established a relationship with an attorney you can work with.
The book will provoke lots of thought on your part and a lively discussion amongst those that read it.
Denis, I will see Alan again soon (I hope) and will mention the e-book angle to him.
PS Denis, this is for your benefit, The Phoenix NOR meet in Apr 2005 (Damn that was a long time ago!) I had Alan for a guest speaker at our dinner. If one of our European brethren were to take firearms instruction in Arizona, perhaps Alan could be persuaded to join us again....
