Multiple stories, "... extensive exterior security measures that include comprehensive surveillance abilities...", an elevator......... No mention of a big diesel generator with a 5,000 gallon fuel supply - why am I thinking there isn't one? I wouldn't want to be in residence when the power goes out in a SHTF situation.
If I had $7+ Mil I'd be spending it on land and a much smaller house somewhere further away from "civilization" than I am right now.

Re: Safe House
Your place has pretty amazing views of its own...
Given the guy apparently does this for a rather lucrative living, I'm sure there's a gen-set in the "safe core"...
What I'm having trouble grasping is all the glass - not very secure.
As to the "semi-auto weapons" - they'd have to be in hidden enclosures spread around, and thus subject to the salt air and etc. - they'd require constant maintenance, otherwise they'd be corroded into one mass in a month or 2.
OTOH, if you've got $7Mil for a house, you could no doubt afford to replace it all with Class III goodness and hire someone to maintain 'em...

Re: Safe House
If I can afford $7 Mil for a house, I can afford sufficient class 3 weapons to do the job right.
Of course, the last place my "fortress" is going to be situated is near a major city. I'm thinking of something like the O'Neal family farm in John Ringo's Posleen books.

Unless your house is in Los Angeles, like this one.randy wrote:If I can afford $7 Mil for a house, I can afford sufficient class 3 weapons to do the job right.
CA DOJ won't approve any Class 3 weapons in the state. I tried. They refused. So I was left with a difficult choice -- give up my Class 3 weapons or give up my move to the PRK. Yeah ... it was a real tough choice!
I need to thank the CA DOJ, though. They saved me a lot of money in CA state income taxes.

Re: Safe House
I think it's a luxurious, well appointed piece of security theater.
If you are that rich and you want security, you want to buy something that is not visible from the road. This is too flashy, particularly with the pr release about how secure it is. I doubt there are remotely controlled weapons of any sort, and at 8,000 square feet and five stories, with the helipad, etc. I doubt that all that glass is even Low-e glass.
There are probably cameras, as that enhances the appreciation of the security theater.
The saying I think of is "an obstacle that is not covered by fire is not an obstacle.
My neighbors are gfw of the first water, so I can expect nada in the category of force-on-force assistance and enfilading fire. In fact, if they knew I kept bottled water, in an extended natural disaser, the gfw with the pool would probably want me to "share".

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

If I'm building it, someone's watching me do so. If I hide it, someone else can find it. If what I'm doing looks like something else then what I'm doing won't draw interest. Misdirection is how "magicians" pull off their feats; it takes time, so think it through and start now--if you haven't already.

Re: Safe House
Guys, this is a rich man's home, not the fuhrerbunker. The big concern for the potential customer is break in's and home invasions, both of which this house's design mitigates greatly(notice there's no windows on the first floor?) Let's face it, the average kidnapper isn't going to be competitive with a Blackwater contractor.
And oh, This is in the Hollywood hills, so 7.5 million isn't terribly out of line.

So what portion of 7.5 million do you think actually went to the construction?HTRN wrote:This is in the Hollywood hills, so 7.5 million isn't terribly out of line.

Re: Safe House
Considering that it was built that way from the start? Probably less than 10%. Most of it is just the way it's designed(like limited first floor access), with slight additional costs for materials/labor for the additional features.
