John Ringo "The Last Centurion"

My take is that the Darheel are just insane, individually and collectively. They were made that way when their carnivorous nature was ruled off limits to them. Since then, they have put all that carnivorous energy into a war-game called business. The true villains are the Aldenata, who we have yet to meet (I think).

I think they should be showing up soon. At least that is the impression I got in the latest book.

The spooky thing is that Ringo wrote "The Last Centurion" back in 2007.
I just re-read it and found the ideological parallels between the Bitch and Obama and his groupies rather close.

The first part of the book does go rather slow but if you aren't familiar with farming and disease control it helps the set up.

I am pretty sure I have read everything that Ringo has published so far and have thoroughly enjoyed it all. The last centurion is great, but I can't think of any of his work I haven't enjoyed. The biggest problem I have with him at the moment is that he has so many damn series that I want new books in all of them and am damn impatient.

I seriously doubt it. However, I would place good money that the curious little frogs know who the Aldenata were, are and where they went. Maybe even how to find them.
This goes back to my point about waiting for books to come out. I really really wish he would finish a series before haring off after the next one.

I could not agree more. Personally my favorite is the Looking Glass series; but it would be nice to see him finish Paladin of Shadows or Council Wars as well. As it is he has just published the first book in another series, Live Free or Die, which is good, don't get me wrong, but I feel like my favorite characters from others series are stuck in limbo waiting for somone to get them out of the cleft stick that ringo left them in.

The Last Centurion was a lot of fun. His milspeak has perfect pitch; Shit, Stick, One Each...still makes me laugh.

I started to read it and got stuck after being beat over the head with "the 'F' word". Sorry guys, I spent 6 years in the Navy and never got used to it, I just wasn't brought up that way.
I did a search & replace to change every occurrence to "****". When it was finished it reported that it had made ~364 replacements. That's more than once per page. Wow.

After I "fixed" it, I really enjoyed it. I was amazed that it was written prior to the appearance of our, current, fearless leader. Ringo really nailed him.
