I believe that the family is the smallest unit of society. As such, it's plain to see that where families fail, society will soon fail behind it. It's not morality, it's just a plain fact.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

I don't think they'll be any cookies to be granted -- one was indeterminate, but non-white w. blue eyes, the other two were white.

Sad indeed. I've come to accept that type behavior from ghetto cultures.

I can't count the number of times I have heard middle aged harpies wail "What am I, chopped liver?"

To which I have replied "No, meat gone rancid." I haven't used that line often, but I have used it. Usually, I just walk away.

Trouble is, too many of the available ones are harpies.

Not many ghetto dwellers make it to law school. Plenty of black gentlemen, and ladies, but no ghetto trash. (I did, once, hear a student respond to a professor in ebonics -- she stopped class, spent the rest of it lecturing the young man about appropriate language, and professionalism, and informed him he would be skipping his next class to discuss his behavior in her office. Apparently, an older black lady from Baltimore doesn't care for someone deliberately imitating ghetto behavior.)

I just graduated law school this past week. What I saw there was eye opening. There were a few black students from the ghetto in my school. In fact, I was friends with some of them. But these people were truly inspiring. They were not ghetto-trash. They were kids from poor families where they couldn't afford to live in better places. But they had good family connections, and parents who pushed them to succeed despite their environment.

On a whole, I'd guess that the students who grew up in the ghetto are actually BETTER students and classier (and certainly more proud) people than the students who were handed an education and a high standard of living. These students worked their asses off for every break they got, and they truly earned their degrees.

I'd guess that the students from underprivileged families were more less likely to be douchebags that the wealthy white kids in law school. Just an observation (of one of the privileged white kids).

Ethnicity and economic class have little part to play nowadays. I've hung around some pretty ritzy crowds, and I've lived in some pretty white regions. Its all irrelevant in regards to whether or not the people living there were trash.

The most FUBAR house I ever walked into was owned by the richest couple in my home county. Those people were trash. The nicest and most honorable folks I ever met lived in a rented single wide in a trailer park.

I agree with the "Bastard Generation" idea. These kids grew up with no one watching them. Dad split, mom was working, and the daycare lady was busy doing her nails.

I was lucky enough to grow up with both my parents present and accounted for. My mom worked a lot still, but while mom was at work, granny watched us all. When I was about four years old, mom let a friend of hers talk her into dropping me and my sis into a daycare that her kids went to, just for a day to see what we'd think. When she picked us up after work, we told her if she ever put us in there again we'd run away from home and never come back.
