Middletown Gun Show - ZOMBIES BEWARE

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

Middletown Gun Show - ZOMBIES BEWARE

Post by Glenn Bartley »

I am wondering if I should hang this (see the pic which was done on my scanner in B&W) on my front door - nah somebody would be sure to steal it. Maybe I can place it in a front window around Halloween and illuminate it somehow to keep the little zombie beggars on their toes when they ring my bell trick or treating. What it is is a metal cut out I picked up at the Gun Show in Middletown, NY today.

Nope I did not get any guns, they did not have that for which I was looking. I did get a couple of ammo cans, a small field surgical kit (good for the grab and go and hiking packs), an AK-47 sticker for Brendan, and this thing. Brendan picked up some Ak mags at only $15 each (great price for excellent condition AK mags in NY), a pocket knife, an AK bayonet, a couple of T-sirts for him and his gal, and some bullet key chains.

Their were what looked to be some good deals on mil-surp rifles. One Mosin nagant 91/30 was going for $89.99. Another vendor had several 91/30s for from $125 to $150 and my guess is he would have come down a bit. That is a great price for them at a gun show considering I can get them online for about $90 plus $20 shipping then have to wait for them to arrive. Only $15 more and I could have had one in hand, but I was a little concerned about condition. I think there I could have done somewhat better with an online dealer, and anyhow I wanted something else today. I also saw another rifle, Nagant like but with bent bolt and unprotected front sight, tagged as made by Remington for Russia, which was listed at only $150. That was chambered in 30/06 and I am sorry I did not take a closer look but other things came up and I sort of forgot.

The place was mobbed for most of the 2 hours and 45 minutes we spent there. I may go again tomorrow if I can get away from another obligation I have, that is if I find some more info about that rifle made by remington for Russia and what I discover appeals to me. There is always a chance it will still be there I suppose, but what a ride on such a chance - about 90 miles one way.

I am still looking for the Marlin XS7 I was thinking of getting, but am now also considering a Remington 770 and Remington 700 after seeing some of them at Gander Mountain and Dick's Sporting Goods after the show. I have to do some more research on the Remingtons.

All the best,
Glenn B

When I look in the mirror, I am happy to see, some of that nine year old boy, who used to be me.
