Vortex Strikefire

I bought a Vortex StrikeFire to put on my new SR556. I was looking for a green dot sight, the StrikeFire is both green and red. The dot size is small, perhaps 2 or 3 moa, 11 brightness settings , a screw in 2x mutiplyer which I don't like. It co witnesses with the Troy flip up sights perfectly. I have the sight mounted a bit forward, the rear of the sight is above the middle of the mag well, aprox. 10 inches in front of my eyes. I've written this to illustrate my only first impression complaint against the unit. The control unit or switchbox is on the left side of the sight and is so far kind of annoying to my open left eye. It occupies a big portion of my field of view. Seems like the top of the unit would have been a better place to put it.

Hi Timo,
I got a StrikeFire a year ago, and wrote about it here:

Do you shoot left handed then? I'd noticed the same thing myself about the switch body being rather ungainly on the left side of the gun. I assume they put it there 'cause most people shoot right handed. I have mine mounted a bit farther back, sounds like. It's an okay red/green dot scope.

Hey, Darrell. I shoot right handed but I keep both eyes open with a dot sight.
