Should I just stop trying?
I just cannot see how to comfortably carry IWB with a full sided gun.
OWB open carry is no problem, but IWB just isnt happening. I am seriously thinking about getting a pocket gun.
Think I'd have better luck with a compact gun or a 3" revolver?

Erm...I carry a 1911, a Sig 229 and 225 IWB. Just slide the holster in, clip it to the belt, and off I go. I do have to make sure that my pants are a bit bigger than necessary so the gun will fit though. Not to be insensitive but what is your body type? Extra...uh...material around your midsection may make IWB difficult.

I ain't exactly skinny bones myself, but I get along fine with a BHP and IWB. Part of it may be the holster. I'm able to make minor adjustments to the Ted Blocker I use as far as cant to make allowance for the type of seat I'm in etc.
Also moving the holster forward or back along the belt can make a difference. Mine works best at 3 O'Clock with an approximately 45 degree forward cant, but YMMV.

Mine rides just behind my left hipbone, and is pretty comfortable (it's a full-size Kimber). An alloy frame would be lighter, but I can't see even an Officers Model-sized 1911 being any more concealable, or more comfortable.
But there ain't many troubles that a man caint fix, with seven hundred dollars and a thirty ought six."

A) Go up a pant size or two (depending if you're IWB some reloads as well) -- that large, unyielding block inside the waistband can put quite a bit of constriction on you.
B) Try various holsters. Are you using a good (made for carrying a gun) belt? That was probably the biggest improvement -- even made carrying a pocket gun more pleasant.

I easily conceal carry a 1911 or a SAA-clone every day, and I'm about medium build with the Dunlap disease as well.
However, I use the IWB crossdraw technique. Yeah, yeah I know it's bad to have if they bad guy is right in front of me, but if someone's that close I'm not even going to attempt to draw.
YMMV.

Another thing you can try is undoing the top button of your pants. I have a few pants that fit me OK but don't rally have room for a gun. So I just undo the top button, strap on a belt, and everything fits just fine.

Vanity no, frugality yes. Why buy new pants if I don't have to. Pants are not cheap.Aglifter wrote:Vanity, Thy name is...
