Naughty gas cans

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

Naughty gas cans

Post by JAG2955 »

So, it appears that I've dilly-dallied too much, and I may never be able to buy jerry cans that piss off the hippies. Does any place have them in stock (for a non-ridiculous price) with a spout at the same store? Don't tell me that I'm stuck with the worthless CARB-compliant cans.

I've heard from some folks that you can still find them at random hardware stores, Tractor Supply locations, and the like. One True Value nearby had Wedco cans in stock until about 1 month ago (now all they have are the leaky CARB versions).

Can't say I didn't warn you. The $45 each expedition exchange was charging ($40 if you bought 4) doesn't seem so ridiculous compared to not being able to get them at all, EVER.

EE still has the pre-ban 10-liter Wedco cans, if you don't mind paying the same price for half the capacity.

If surplus is acceptable, Colemans still has some; 6 for $150. I don't know if they have good spouts though or just the Chinese unvented POCs. I have never ordered from them, but they're supposed to be a

Cheaper than Dirt has usable nozzles; you'll need a reducing tip for unleaded tanks, but they work OK (I've tried two so far, on surplus cans). Not for Wedco commercial cans though without mods to the venting.

CTD also has 5 liter cans; I bought a couple last year and they were in decent condition. Kind of wierd in that the spout is 90 degrees off from 'normal'. My friend with an ATV bought a couple to put on his rear cargo carrier and says they're great. They take normal NATO spouts.
