in addition to the Baen free library, this has complete series and in the case of many of the CD ISOs everything by a particular author, and a few extras.

Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia of the Monster Hunter Nation came out in the stores and on Amazon this week.

Larry is the guy that wrote the classic H&K, because you suck and we hate you rant.

I read the first chapter online some time ago and am saving the full book for a business trip coming up in a couple of weeks.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Best sci-fi book in my opinion: "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card
2nd best: "Dragon's egg" by Robert Forward.

If you want to include alternate history, Harry Turtledove's Great War saga was a pretty good read.

The premise is that the Confederate States won their independence, fast forward and cover the time period from 1914-1945.
'Regulate' used to mean the opposite of 'constipate.'

Princess of the Wands is good.

I just found a hardcover copy of Off Armageddon Reef for like five bucks at books-a-million.

Score! 8-)

Oh, yes, the Ryder Hook series - loved those - I want a Tonota 80 if my gunshop doesn't have a Martian Mega, but they can stick the Krifarm junk. ;)

And then you could try the Night's Dawn Trilogy by Peter F Hamilton - easily the most imaginative stuff to come out in the past 15 years - start with "The Reality Dysfunction".

It has everything:

1) Human race split into Adamists and Edenists
2) Huge sentient space habitats
3) Semi-telepathy for Edenists
4) Sentient spaceships
5) ZOMBIES - OK not zombies but possession by the dead ;)
6) Existential questions - do we have souls

7) a downer - military solutions are classed as "right-wing militarism"

But he's English, so expect a certain "delicacy" when talking about governments, his heroes are certainly bloodthirsty enough.

And his Commonwealth Saga is great - expect to hate it if you're American - the NASA landing on Mars is a huge anti-climax - read Pandora's Star.

Alistair Reynolds is pretty good and out there. Any Ian Banks, the Culture novels especially.

Any new particulars of what you are looking for? I have about 2k Science Fiction books on my shelf.

I don't even want to think about the number of books in my collections - read or unread.
