Batteries. I must have changed batteries 4 times on my ranger. Then again, I'm in Phoenix. If you get 3 years on a bat you are doing well. Otherwise I think you have it, not much to maintain on a newer car.Catbird wrote: I bought a Ford Ranger new in 1997 and drove it for 11 years. I don't ever remember having to turn a wrench away from home except to change a tire.

Me too. I don't think I ever got more than three years out of a battery. It was almost like an anniversary gift for my car. First really cold autumn day and the car would not start, and the only cure was a new battery -- and this was sunny So Cal!NVGdude wrote:Batteries. I must have changed batteries 4 times on my ranger. The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

Hmm. I replaced the battery in my Jeep after 7 years, not because of any perceived deficiency, but because it was the factory battery and it was 7 years old. And the battery in my '73 truck (Interstate) has been in there since 2001, and is still going strong.

I bought a Toureg on Saturday and I was a tad disappointed how cheezy they are making the included kits these days.

Well wear! More room and ground clearance for transporting lots of rifles.CombatController wrote:I bought a Toureg on Saturday and I was a tad disappointed how cheezy they are making the included kits these days.
Make sure you park it next to any Cayenne you see, just to annoy the guy who paid three times the VW price just to get the Porsche badge.

FSI. It is really almost as zippy as my 7. It handles the curves as well. The ride is a tad rough but meh, full time 4wd with a stiff as hell suspension. The leather seats make up for a multitude of sins. The manual is crap though. Half the listed features mentioned on one booklet are not in the other where I was told to go look.
It comes in the top five for "real" 4x4's in rough country apparently. Lot's of guys in the outback of all places love it. Now all I need is a real spare tire.

I hear that CC is rumoured to have entered for the next Paris-Dakkar rally.
