Dion vows tough gun law
Fired-up Liberal leader turns up rhetoric, accuses Conservatives of telling 'lies' to mislead voters

MONTREAL–With the site of a gunman's murderous rampage as a backdrop, Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion promised to strengthen gun laws to ensure that military assault weapons are banned.

"A new Liberal government will make our cities, our communities, and our schools safer by getting military assault weapons off our streets," Dion said at an event at Dawson College in Montreal.

Cranking up his rhetoric on the second day of the campaign, Dion also accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper of lying in an attempt to blatantly mislead voters.

"They are piling their lies on top of lies," he said at an event in St. Lambert, Que., adding that "Canadians won't accept that."
