How long was the movie? Perhaps more plot line and dialog will be available on the Director's Cut of the movie when it comes out on DVD? They'll need something extra to help drive extra DVD sales besides the usual purchasers and Trekkie fans.

Yeah, that's getting pretty long and there's no doubt lots of stuff left on the cutting room floor that they'll be able to put on the DVD.

My wife and I saw it opening night and we both loved it. She missed the implications of the alt time line until I pointed it out, so I agree that it could have used a bit more explication. That said it was a beautiful movie and well done. It was definitely the best looking movie of the franchise, not hard since the the visual fx have gotten drastically better since the last movie. While I agree with the the comments that alt time lines tend to be crutches for lazy writers, I can't think of a better way to reboot the franchise. This opens up unlimited opportunities for new movies and stories without having to rehash the same thing over and over. I also liked that it was much less preachy than usual, but that's just me. All in all I am looking forward to the sequels.

One question, there is no IMAX that is playing it in my state, but has anyone seen it in IMAX and what did you think about it? I remember seeing Fantasia in IMAX and it was VERY cool.

Obama and Spock are almost the same except that one has a frontal lobe and the other just a brain stem. Other than that they are almost identical.

Wife unit and I saw the movie tonight. My son told us, "It's NOT your Star Trek." and he was right. As others have said, the time travel plotline was the weakest part. My biggest problem with the movie overall was the crappy camerawork. Shaky cam, extreme closeup in fights, flashes of light in the middle of important scenes....looked more like some experimental film. I liked Bones and Scotty the best, the actors had them nailed perfectly. I also liked some of the sly references, such as Scotty's remark about the Admiral's beagle. Anyone catch the admiral's name?

Overall, I'd say it's okay, no more than that. They have a lot of work to do.
