Latest reading material

Post by Rod »

Visited the paper and ink version of the internet (aka Barnes and Noble). Came back with the following books:

Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell This is the story of the SEAL from SEAL Team 10. He's also the one who chased down the scumbags who shot his dog.

Celebutards by Andrea Peyser She's a moderate liberal who makes fun of all the assholes who think being an entertainer makes them smart.

Conservative Comebacks to Liberal Lies by Gregg Jackson 26 chapters from A to Z for rebutting anything a liberal says. A is for Abortion, E is for Economics, G is for Gun Control. More here.

Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton About the Special Ops guys in Afghanistan who fought at Mazar-i-Sharif and rode to combat on horseback.

Fedex just today brought me a 37 pound box of new reading. Picked up a 21 volume Time-Life book series called Great Ages of Man, published back in the 60s, off of ebay for 50 bucks. With shipping, about 3 bucks per book.

Would you believe I just got a library card yesterday? First time I've had one in about 15 years.

And in my little old town library I found volumes by Tom Kratman and Thomas Sowell on the shelf. So I took them out. (And the librarian didn't give me the eye. There are Republican pockets in Jersey.)

My library has all the Babylon 5 stuff. Been working my way though that. 8-)

Got my copy of Silent America this week. Had intended to order one years ago.

The copy of Rawles' Patriots that I ordered arrived today.

A question for those of you who have already read it: Should I raid the 'wrap drawer' and make myself a tinfoil hat to wear while reading it?

No. It's not full of "zionist conspiracies" or the illuminati. It's pretty level-headed.

Keep in mind when you read it that it's at least as much a survival primer as it is a work of fiction.

My "Christmas" presents just arrived (big sister has a tendency to procrastinate):

Item 1: The Driver by Garet Garrett. Business novel about a railroad, with the main character named Henry Galt. (Yes, it does make one wonder whether Ayn Rand had read Garrett's stuff before writing Atlas.) These can pretty much only be found via The Ludwig von Mises Institute bookstore, and there are a couple of others focusing on the steel industry, autos, and agri-biz.

Item 2: From the Fountainhead to the Future: and Other Essays on Art and Excellence by Alexandra York. She writes great stuff on art and is influenced by Rand.

Next up to order: Hamilton's Curse by Dilorenzo, and the complete Sparrowhawk series by Edward Cline (which I mentioned in another post).

Has he been updating the issues with his latest material? I have a copy that's a few years old (almost right after it came out), but I'd also like to have his newer stuff too. I don't mind giving my money to Bill so much as I do his publisher.

I thought I heard he'd added 3 items to a later edition, but I don't think that's the one I have. Not sure what extra essays he's supposed to have added, either.
