Just heard about this on Tom Gresham's GunTalk. Seems like a good idea for those that lack space. But does look bigger than a regular box spring mattress.

i dont like the way it opens... my mattress takes damn near 3 people to lift...
if it slid out from the side, it would be awesome...

And personally, I don't care for it. It's too visible. a better idea is a slide out drawer, that's only 8-12" high. You can put two drawers under each side for King/Queen sized mattress. One of the countless SUV drawer systems can be easily used.
Another option is something like the V-Line "Closet Vault". Downside is that storage is limited, and you have to cut holes in the walls. On the other hand, installing it behind say, a refridgerator, would make it highly unlikely to be found.

Re: Bed Gun Safe
ewww i just noticed... it has hinges on the outside of the door... not only is that a good way to get a safe broken into, but that would tear into your mattress...
additionally i would be concerned about its weight and the effect it could have on floors with that much weight on such a small surface area... i wouldnt want to put that in a second floor bedroom...
as for what i said about the door earlier, after thinking about leverage, i really dont like it... this removes one of the hardest parts about breaking into a safe... leverage on prying the door...
with most safes, you have to get leverage on the door to open em... so typically you have to tip it on its back and use a 4 ft prybar... with properly bolted down safes or ones in closets, this is a huge ordeal... you simply dont have the room to get the leverage to crack the door... with this safe, the tipping is already done for you... i would bet that a 220lb man with a good prybar could crack it in under 2 minutes...

When I first read it, I thought it was for a Truck Bed, and then I saw 1300 lbs.... Oy.
