Perhaps you're lucky, I feel 60 - it's from all the abuse I did to my body when younger and took a desk job when older. It ALL catches up to you sooner or later.
for being a triathelete, I ruined my shoulders and knees - left knee - three surgeries; right knee - one (so far and hopefully it'll stay that way); no surgeries YET on my shoulders - I've been told I have degenerative arthritis in my shoulders - which is common among weight-lifters and swimmers, but I haven't let them cut on my shoulders yet (although I've considered it due to the amount of pain on occasion).
The bad thing is: I don't know if what I did athletically HELPED my genes and my body's overall plan, or if all I did was to screw things up that MIGHT have gotten fixed (in due time).
But since we're not having any kids, the point is moot anyway.
Guys, when you beat the shiite out of your body and believe you're invincible during training and operations - that'll ALL catch up to you when you visit the VA (or other health-care organization) many years down the road when trying to repair your body when it stops doing the things you told it to, or it IS doing things you told it NOT to do.
