Nice ride! The wheels look tiny though.

Makes sense.CByrneIV wrote:You can certainly get larger wheels (24s will fit), but they use the HD 17s for a reason. None of the larger wheels commonly available have a 12,500lb load rating (the truck with max payload is 9700lbs, plus trailer weight), or can handle 610ftlbs of torque
I think it's partly an optical illusion. In the picture, the black tires are shown against the black truck and it's black shadow. The silver rims stand out and make the wheel seem smaller than it is.
That said, most of the 4WD trucks I see are driven by guys, (and women), who never intend to use them at maximum payload or towing capacity.

Not to be a pisser in the punch but..
What's with Dodge, and they're putting shortbox beds on Diesel 3/4 tons? Seems kind of self defeating to me.

I would guess that it puts 3 ft additional on the back of that vehicle which make parking difficult at best. My standard cab 4x4 often straddles both lines on the parking space and sticks out about a foot past the back with the front bumper on the front line.

All that said, given how much room to tweak there is in modern diesels, I don't understand why the manufacturers don't do at least some of this on their own.

Stick with stock tires -- changing that up is the biggest fuel economy killer for diesel trucks.
Make a roadtrip to Banks in Arcadia and they'll have you in and out in a day with all the mods. Paid mine off under 100K miles of driving with 3mpg savings. Had a lot more fun driving it too.
If you're going to be pulling anything seriously consider their billet torque convertor while you're at it. Wish I'd done that mod earlier. Noticeably tighter and cooler, no ballooning out of lockup under load/acceleration. Gives much better down hill performance under heavy load (no temp rise and 10 mph less top speed geared down under compression) -- way less riding of the brakes is comforting on long hot downhills w/ a trailer pushing.

Always ask "At what EGT increase?"
The nice thing about Banks Eng is they're so stinkin' experienced, conservative and derive every design from 1st principles. They're actually degreed engineers and ones with lots of hard bought scar tissue from racing and R&D that's used for the consumer's benefit.
It's remarkable how Banks Eng gets so much out of a system w/out increasing EGT (unless you want and w/ your full buy in).
My $.02, buy elsewhere if you like but only after (you as an engineer) benchmark against Banks. Call 'em. Their tech support crew is really helpful on the phone.
