ok i need a few soft rifle cases... i would like them to be as cheap as possible and also have a way to lock them... either two zippers or a D-ring that i could run a small luggage padlock through...
i just basically need something that keeps my cheap POS rifles out of the way and locked up without forcing me to use safe space for them...

I assume you are not concerned with theft, since a gun in a soft case can be easily stolen and opened at leisure.
For 'beater' guns that I just have lying around, I put them in those cheap sleeves you see at ELGSs for about $3 to $4 each -- the kind with the shoelaces to tie the end closed.
When nieces and nephews come over, they go in the safe.
If I was out of space in the safe, I've got a box full of those 'gun safety locks' that manufacturers have to ship their guns with. Stick one on and leave it in the sleeve.

Re: cheap soft rifle cases
well the most expensive of the guns i would be storing in one would be the $200 mossberg pump... so im not worried about theft too much... thing is, i really have no place for a safe... so im stuck with locks and lockable cases... i have a large 2 gun case now, but its too big to slide under a bed or in the closet... with some small soft cases, i can tuck them in the back corner of a closet and not worry about it...
i dont leave ammo in the house so that ensures that the kids cant load the gun... but i still would like them to be cased so that there is less of a chance for them to get their hands on them...
I know i need a safe, but in a rental house that is already too small for my family and no garage or basement, i really have no alternative... frankly that is one of the things that has kept my collection so small, lack of storage...

The cheap sleeves keep the guns from scratching each other, but are not very bulky. Most of the dealers use them to transport their inventory at ELGSs. Easy to slide under the bed or stack them in the closet and not worry about guns banging against each other.
If you don't have any of those cable locks, your local police department will probably give them to you for free. If that's not an option, pm me and I'll send you a few.
You should have some ammo. Ammo and locks beats no ammo and no locks. There's a higher likelihood your kids will find some ammo than they will find their way past your locks.

Oh i agree... my pistol is loaded in a quick access safe... my rifles are all unloaded with the ammo locked in my trunk in locked cases... you are right i should get the locks out... ill get them this weekend...D5CAV wrote:You should have some ammo. and i know what you are saying, the things kids can get into can and often do defy logic... this is why i want to get some soft cases that i can put little luggage padlocks on... in fact, of the 3 rifles i am referring to, only one would take a cable lock anyways... the other 2 are tube fed .22s... so trigger locks or locked cases would have to do for those...
