Barrett Rifles 30-Round 6.8 SPC Magazines (For ARs?)

I was poking around on Barrett's website, after reading over at the War on Guns that Barrett's REC7 rifle in 6.8 SPC is backordered through the end of 2009 (not talking any more orders), and came across their 30-round 6.8 SPC magazines (at $40 a pop).



I seem to recall people saying the 6.8 would fit in a standard AR magazine. So I thought that if this 6.8 magazine would fit into a standard AR and hold 30-rounds of 6.8 - do you think it would hold 40-rounds of 5.56?

I'm rather liking their Model 98Bravo in .338 Lapua Mag. I just wish I could afford it.

The mag lips are different, and enough that you want to use the appropriate magazine.

However .44Mag.com has the Barretts on hand but not for the faint of heart.

A 25rd C Systems mag is 14 bucks.

When you can buy roughly 3 mags for the price of 1, by giving up 5 rounds per mag...

Oh, C Systems makes 40 round 5.56 mags in Stainless steel.

Hmm, they list the follower as 6 bucks for 3.

Their catalog doesn't list anything for 6.8 for the rebuild kits. I'm guessing the springs and and floorplates will work with the 6.8SPC mags?

It's still much cheaper than buying either a PRI(43 bucks) or a Barrett mag.

6.8 does not work in an AR mag, hence the need for a new one on the market. I was bummed after I got mine to discover I need all new mags. The 6.5 IIRC is the one that works in the old mags, and one I ought to consider instead.
