And now: for the rest of the story.
Paul Harvey died today, just announced on ABC News.

I thought he had died years ago, like back in the '90s! Guess I was wrong and mistaking with retirement, I remember my dad listening to him on the radio way back when.Rod wrote:Paul Harvey died today, just announced on ABC News.
Rest in peace, great storyteller.

Doesn't he have a son starting in the business?
Of course, I'll miss him.

I spent a lot of lunch hours listening to his broadcast. He has such a clear voice that even with my failing hearing I could understand every word he said.

In later years, it seemed like he couldn't get through a broadcast without taking a cheap shot at Bush. That got kind of old.

Father and son have been doing the broadcast daily, some days dad, other (most) days the son, it airs here at 7:30 am, just as I'm pulling in to park at work.
Good day.
Good day.

That sucks.

Never cared for his stilted delivery.

The first time I heard Paul Harvey, I was a young electronics tech in training at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. We were troubleshooting some kind of rack mounted AM radio with an artificially induced fault. Sometimes the fault was such that the radio would still work well enough to listen to. When it was our turn, we all hoped for such a condition so we could put on a pair of headphones and listen to Paul Harvey while we worked. He had an odd delivery but he told interesting stories. About half the time, his stories turned out to be plugs for one of his sponsors.
