According to the Tribune's Washington Bureau ( ;-) ):
Sen. Barbara Boxer of California, a Democrat, calls the Palin pick "dangerous.'' Palin suggests that she can break open the "cracks in the glass ceiling'' that Democrat Hillary Clinton made with her campaign for president, but Boxer suggests that voters won't simply accept any woman for a pioneering role.
I think I tore something laughing.

But, in reality Babs is even more catty. [Fsst fsst mrawwww!!]

I love the choice. I haven't been this giddy about politics (suffering in Crook County) since it was official that Bush beat Lurch.

But on another note,

What is the name of the song/what movie is it from when she is introduced? It is bugging the HELL out of me. I am thinking western, perhaps Aaron Copland?

To go with the theme Mekender and HTRN started, here's the absolute best MILF-reference I've seen so far:
http://ambulancedriverfiles.blogspot.co ... -mind.html
I'm Sure She's Got A Keen Mind...

...and she's a staunch Second Amendment supporter, hunter, conservative and all that...

...but Sarah Palin, McCain's choice for VPOTUS?

I'd hit that.

Like the fist of an angry god.

And just to prove that I'm not totally shallow, I'd even vote for her in the morning.

We are so fucked. I hope you all like our liberal tax and spend stupid bitch of a governor. Remember the "windfall profits tax" that the demos want to put on the oil companies? Well, we have one here in Alaska, thanks in large part to governor Barbie and her cronies. They increased taxes something like 400% over what they were, which is having a definite negative effect on new investment by the oil producers here in Alaska. I voted for her purely out of my hatred for the democrats and their candidate, and I now believe that Alaska would have been better off with having Tony Knowles (hack, spit), back in the governor's mansion.

About the best thing that can be said for her is that she is no crazier than either McCain or Biden. That, and Hillary has to be hating life right about now, since this could easily be the last nail in the coffin of her presidential aspirations.

The abuse of power investigation is no joke either. Mike Wooten may be a bad trooper, bad husband, and horrible father, and all the other things that they say about him, but the administrative process had run its course, and the troopers punished him for the 2 claims (out of many the Palins made against him) they found that had merit. If it is uncovered that she actually did apply pressure to have him fired, that is a violation of the law, but I suspect that now that the stakes have been raised, the investigation will conclude without finding anything. It is important to note that the Palins were present for and took part in one of the claims that was found to have merit, the illegal taking of a moose. They shared in the meat obtained in that hunt, and didn't report it until long after, when Sarah's sister was divorcing the guy.

She ran on the slogan of open and transparent government for Alaska, and it's been getting more transparent by the day for the last few months. Her administration is a personality cult, and I hope that the McCain staff was fully aware of her issues when they made their choice, and have good plans for answering the inevitable shitstorm of questions.

Flame away. I know that the alternative is still far worse, and we have to get behind Palin and McCain, but I had to say something.

So lemme get this straight, Palin is bad because she raises taxes on Alaskans to pay for things, but Ted Stevens is good, because he uses pork to get money from the rest of us to pay for things?

NPR - thanks for the reality check and eye-opener.
