yep, good reminder of the value of analog living in a digital world. As for supply chain, that's my meat and potatoes. Am wondering what sort of work around/hacks there might be out there. Somewhere some redneck is raiding outhouses and looking as his still for ideas.

A. Definitely A. They aren't actually necessary to make the truck run, just to keep the nanny-state appeasement algorithm in the ECU satisfied. And it's not like all the trucks need to be set up to make MOAR POWAR and roll coal, just get rid of the things under 'emergent conditions'. It's not like they're running that stuff in the 3rd world, and our interstate trucking fleet is significantly newer (read: lower polluting) than elsewhere on the planet. Just sayin.

I think requires new chips for that and that would take longer than more DEF

Nope. Reprogram. Done. I know the pickups aren’t too difficult, and the big diesels shouldn’t be significantly different. I guarantee the market could sort it out most rikki-tik if the “bypass authorized” E.O. were to get signed. Like that would ever happen. They’re currently rowing the boat in the other direction as hard as they can.

I constantly regret selling my ‘06 Cummins Dodge. Should a DEF shortage become a thing, I bet diesel prices drop since the largest consumer pool would dry up. Also, anybody with a pre-DEF hotshot rig still on the road would be set for quite a while. Assuming of course DOT even allows those rigs to haul anymore.
