Re: Ukraine invasion
I am somewhat concerned that China will look at Russia's military performance in Ukraine, and reach the same sort of conclusion as Germany did concerning Russia's military performance in Finland.

If wasn't the probability of nukes being tossed around, I'd pop the corn and sit back to enjoy the reboot of Iran v Iraq.

The Uni-party pedo-partiers _really_ don't like their Pedo playground being threatened.

Considering that a big part of the Russians' problems is Chinese tires, and all the Chinese vehicles have Chinese tires, it may be more of a Keystone Cops kind of vibe to it.Netpackrat wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 12:46 am I am somewhat concerned that China will look at Russia's military performance in Ukraine, and reach the same sort of conclusion as Germany did concerning Russia's military performance in Finland.

Yeah, I know. Fake news...blackeagle603 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 3:30 pmpay no mind to reports of biolabs in Ukraine funded by the US. Nothing to see here, move along
trying to check sources on that... so much "pravda" flying around from both sides it is difficult
Except now those "fake news" biolabs are a risk if big-bad-Vlad gets them according to Vicky Nuland

"Keystone cops" indeed! It would be funnier if these clowns didn't have access to nuclear weapons.

"keystone cops" is right.
You remember a few days after February 22, 2022, Tony Blinken was talking about Poland helping out Ukraine with some fighter jets?
Poland looked at the map, realized that Russia was right on their border and said "no bueno": https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-new ... ba135a0913
Tony asks again: https://www.jpost.com/international/article-700442
Poland says "no bueno".
Tony ups the ante and says we will give you some nice lightly used F16s for all those broken down old Mig 29s you send to Ukraine: https://www.cbsnews.com/video/blinken-s ... o-ukraine/
Poland says, "OK, we'll do that deal. We'll send our Mig 29s to Ramstein AFB. You can do what you want with them, including sending them to Ukraine if that floats your boat. So, where are our F16s?"
USAF says "WTF?": https://www.airforcemag.com/polands-new ... -aircraft/
Now Vicky Nuland is furiously backpedaling: "We're not going to send your Mig 29s to Ukraine and risk a war with Russia. We want you to send your Mig 29s to Ukraine and risk a war with Russia": https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/ ... nd-ukraine

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/putin- ... kraine-war another perspective. The first word is always wrong, and usually the second and the third...
My overall take is that the Russians are screwing up a lot but still have the advantage and the initiative. They are vulnerable to a counter attack but I don't think the Ukrainians have the firepower or the tactical mobility (and air cover) to pull it off.
Still, the longer this plays out, the less likely the Russians are to prevail, at least completely.

Yeah, no matter how badly the Russians screw the pooch, as the man that Vlad wants to emulate supposedly said "Quantity has a quality all it's own".
If the Russians have the will to press on regardless of the pain (militarily and economically) then they will take the country. The question is how much pain the Russians are willing to absorb before the system decides that Vlad need to to go, before he declares victory and stops, or the Ukrainians collapse.

That's been my assessment as well - it boils down to numbers. Ukraine is going to get it's pound of flesh, and Russia is going to revert to "traditional" tactics - flatten the cities with artillery, and then commit war crimes on the survivors.
