74 years ago, the United States Navy engaged a significantly stronger Japanese force at the Battle of Midway. In a few hours, they sank four enemy carriers, killed roughly half the pre-war Japanese Naval Aviators, and established American dominion over the ocean. It's the American Tralfalgar...not the last battle, but the pivot from which all later victories in war and successes in peace derive.
And deserves to be celebrated.
