That's right, somebody else is, yet again, trying to resurrect the automag.
I wish them success, if there's any pistol that really needs resurrection, its the mag. I hope they have better luck than the bren ten folks, or Remington with the r51..

Some guy named Max Gera says it was his masterpiece.

Why? It looks good, but given a revolver is lighter and less complicated, what's the point?

The more the merrier and all that, but the Desert Eagles are already filling the market for large auto magnum for those who either need one or have inadequate hardware to compensate for In other ways.

Hadn't realized it was in jest. Usually when I read/hear that line, it isn't.

Max did the R&D on it, as I recall, but Lee Jurras was the guy that made it famous. You're reaching deep into the annals of long range handgunning with this one. As I recall, Gera designed and tested the pistol, but Jurras was the one that cut down a .30-06 cartridge to fit the action, seated a .44 caliber hollowpoint, and invented the .44 Automag. Jurras was the guy who popularized lightweight hollowpoint bullets pushed at high velocities. He used his cartridges in the Automag and in the TC Contender.Netpackrat wrote:Some guy named Max Gera says it was his masterpiece.

Because doing something the gratuitously difficult way has a certain perverse appeal.BDK wrote:Why? It looks good, but given a revolver is lighter and less complicated, what's the point?
