Thutty Ought Six
So, if any of you remember the thread where I was talking about sending off my .223 single shot to be rebarreled, I never got around to doing that. Procrastination paid off today, because I was able to trade it and the reloading stuff and ammo I had bought for it, for this old Remington 721 in its original caliber of .30-06. The 721 is my favorite bolt action, and I already have a customized one in 7mm Weatherby that belonged to my father. For now, I'm just going to stick a scope on this, but later it is going to become a .35 Whelen through the application of $$$ and custom gunsmithing. The trigger and safety have never been upgraded to the new style, and since the safety operates a little funky, I'm probably going to have that done (or have a Timney fitted) sooner rather than later.

Nice. My favorite bolty has become the Rem. 600 in 308 I recently picked up.

And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

I also have a 721 in '06 that I got a good deal on from a gun shop in a small town I was visiting. I put a scope and a sling on it and it's now my no-frills go-to rifle. Nothing fancy, over 50 years old, very reliable, and tons of soul.

It appears to have been glass bedded at some point.Cobar wrote:Nice!

Yeah, Mrs. Netpackrat has been asking for a new kitten for several years (we have 2 adult cats already), but what she got was Mortimer there. He's very helpful.clyde621 wrote:Nice Kitty too

I also like the model 721. Mine is in .244 Remington. I even have two old boxes of ammo for it.

Ah, nice gun. I thought your picture was stating that the gun was for pussies though. My bad.

And why not .338-06?
