Only real issue with the Hi-power is I already have one, and reliability is pretty shitty.
If I changed out the safety to the MK III style it would meet the requirement though.
Leaning towards some sort of CZ-75 variant at this point. Need to find someplace with a P-07 in stock to try out, or a P-01 Omega.
Really wish CZ would make a CZ-75 Compact size gun with alloy frame, standard safety, and no stupid accessory rail.

Wow, really? I have two that both run great. What issues you have with them?

Ever since Al Gore invented the Internet in response to this topic people have been saying "X is a better choice." There is no "one" good answer. I prefer a 1911 or variant thereof; I am a fossil. Rather than bounce from post to post in a pinball game I decided to stick with one pattern for self defense and stay with it and I've had consistent good results since 1967. Yes, I cheat on the old 1911 periodically but I always come back.
I'm not old--It's too early to be this late.

Wednesday was a 3-point jam, plus one failure to feed. Both were with 147 grain ammo.blackeagle603 wrote:Wow, really? I have two that both run great. What issues you have with them?
Next time I go out I will try to determine if it is just 147 grain or a specific bullet length that is causing the issue.

With the exception of the Ruger Mk II, and the Hi-power every other bottom feeder I own is a 1911.Old Grafton wrote: I prefer a 1911 or variant thereof; I am a fossil.
Thus the question, what else is out there?

I had an Argentine knockoff and it ran like a top. But I understand not wanting to spend money on another one when the first was a dog.NVGdude wrote:Wednesday was a 3-point jam, plus one failure to feed. This is also an Arge. I have not had issues in the past with 124 grain bullets, which is why I am thinking it might simply be a bullet weight/length issue.Durham68 wrote:I had an Argentine knockoff and it ran like a top. Of course, the first time SHE shoots it, it decides to jam. (always the way right?)

My FM Hi Power had feeding issues, but it always turned out to be the mag's fault.

Some kind of Police trade-in Smith (not M&P)? They seem a bit blocky in the grip, but they come in all sorts of flavours/calibers/prices etc.
I know these don't fully fit your requirements, but it is a place to start...http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore. ... in-pistols
And happy new year to ya'll.

They did, and may still. The pcr is aluminum frame with no rail. Send it to czcustom for an omega trigger, or a standard safety setup.NVGdude wrote:Only real issue with the Hi-power is I already have one, and reliability is pretty shitty.
