I'm two steps from Platt. He's feuded with David Drake, and some of the writers I know have been on panels with David. And, yep, I've been a member of Chewbacchus from the first year on.

We probably know some of the same people.

Can't say as I'm surprised. So does that make us two degrees separated for knowing some of the same folks via Chewbacchus, or one degree for knowing each other here?

I lived down the street from a man who was a pilot flying supplies over the Hump in WW2. he had a picture of himself with Mao Tse Tung and Chou En Lai after some dinner in China in 1945.

I met a man who did one man shows as Charkes Russell the Montana artist. He had met an old lady who had met Russell as a child, who met an old indian who was presented to Lewis and Clark as a babe in arms, who knew Jefferson and a lot of other Founding Fathers.

My cousin married Priscilla Presley's half brother, so that gets me to Elvis and Richard Nixon.

I met Royal Dano who did a lot of supporting roles in Westerns.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

...and I once worked for a guy who's dad knew General Franco. "Knew" as in "number 3rd guy under Franco".

I've met Sammy Davis, Jr. and spent an hour talking with Ben Johnson. Also have talked with Gene Roddenberry over lunch. Will have to think back and remember a few others.

They haven't had any good mayors since the Sullivan Act was instituted.

OK, I'll play - my dad worked with US Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh and consulted with/worked with/knew Jacques Piccard while setting up the FIRST world's deepest dive to the bottom of the Marianas Trench (while working off Point Loma in San Diego). "Trieste" was the first manned vessel to reach the bottom of the Challenger Deep (LINK) - in 1960 (the year I was born).

He also worked directly on several Apollo programs, and was actually out on the carrier when Apollo 4 was brought aboard and he helped review and decode all the communications data recovered before they put up the next manned Apollo mission.

I met and talked to William Devane (nice guy) at Fairbanks Ranch during the 1984 Olympics, and also came within a stones throw of Prince William when he attended, while wearing a Blaze Orange jacket, making him an EXCELLENT target for any sniper placed around the rim of the area where the horse competitions were occurring (even though we had MANY counter-snipers in position all over the place). I still have all of my 1984 Olympic pins, along with my bar-coded security badge.

Shook hands with Chuck Norris and said howdy passing in a ladder well on Connie. Must have been Feb '87 during our BGE off the coast of Baja.

Met Nixon's younger brother and spoke briefly with Tricia Nixon Cox.

Forgot, I knew Bobby McNellis of El Paso Saddlery fame, used to have lunch at his shop all the time. Because of that, I got to meet Bart Skelton which means I'm one degree away from Skeeter, Elmer Keith and that bunch. I'm also famous in a way because I won a Taurus Millennium at a gun show and Ryan McNellis used it as the model for the Saddlery's Double Agent holster. So I have the first of it's kind. DA Holster

A husband of a friend of my mom's used to run Los Alamos.

I've met "Big Kenny," John Rich, and Cowboy Troy.

I've met someone who provides a lot of the military related props for shows that are filmed in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

I think I've met Tom Braidwood.
