We stay away from the big network shows these days. Been watching Doc Martin, Kingdom and Jeeves and Wooster over the last few weeks.
Most satisfactory, Sir.

My wife and I have been watching American [strike]Obstacle Course[/strike] Ninja Warrior for a couple of years now, and we're starting to see the holes. The whole show acts like they're doing it live, but we're starting to tell from certain things it isn't. I don't even know why they bother to act like it's live.
I don't watch much scripted TV any more. The Walking Dead is mostly it. Started watching Tyrannt, but couldn't get past the third episode for some reason I forget now. TOo often I'll enjoy and watch a show, then something happens in said show which causes me to revoke my suspension of disbelief. For "Burn Notice", it was triggering a bomb with a thrown shoe.
I think sometimes the entertainment industry goes with simple and formulaic scripts because they don't think that the majority of people will hate it. Most folks want stories that have happy endings, so you can't f with the form too much. And stories have to fit in 45 minute of less chunks, so not much development.
Damn shame 'Parallels' was never made into a series. Showed promise for a season or two.
I've been enjoying 'Continuum', but they made things a bit too complex and multi-faceted with season 3. You almost need a flow chart to make sense of stories with too much time travel and alternate timelines.

I've enjoyed Hell on Wheels, I think it actually got BETTER after the first season, when it tried a bit too hard to be gritty.

I've just started "Longmire" 3 shows so far. It has Lou Diamond Philips in it doing an excellent job as a friend of Sheriff Longmire and a Cheyenne bar owner. From what I understand the show started of on A&E and was based on a series of novels. A&E dumped it because its audience was mostly over 50. Netflix picked it up and decided to continue the series because over 50 money looks the same as anybody else's. It had a built in fan base of people who liked the books. As for Longmire anybody who hates cell phones can't be all bad.

The only time I watch TV anymore is when the same group of guys have wacky adventures chasing an normally-inanimate object with a mind of its own around a field of some sort.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Paw Patrol is pretty good.
The only show I still watch at least semi-regularly is 'Castle', and even that's getting stale. And I think I'm almost a full season behind - I watch everything with an extreme time lag, off my TiVo.

'Castle' is predictable as hell. You can generally assume they'll arrest 2-3 suspects before they get the right one. About the only saving grace for me on that show is Nathan Fillion's relishing an opportunity to chew the scenery, and Molly Quinn.
Waiting for "Better Call Saul' to return. Tragedy and the downfall of people isn't often something explored in television these days.

I just finished season 4. One of the few series I have watched past the second season. Good stuff.MarkD wrote:I've enjoyed Hell on Wheels, I think it actually got BETTER after the first season, when it tried a bit too hard to be gritty.
