I dare not go back to NZ - I am not sure I wouldn't just stay there. Last time, I was this ... close to not getting on the return flight.

It has occurred to me, that somebody needs to convince KDT to come out of retirement, and start writing blog posts again, maybe start another forum, and then jerk the members around from time to time. Short of some sort of brilliant marketing campaign, I've got nothing else in terms of how to attract new members. The "old members tree" has been shaken pretty thoroughly at this point, with the most recent I can think of being Aesop, and we all know how that has worked out (heh). Short of tracking down Jose Rossy (nooooooooo.... although I've always wanted to see a Jose v. Aesop flame war) (repeat: do NOT actually do that) I think that source is pretty much tapped out.

The reason for my suggestion WRT bringing KDT out of retirement, is based on what I have seen at another forum I am a member of. Paragon Pride's membership is made up almost entirely of people who hate Gabe Suarez... Whether it's people who have quit him, people he has fired, people who are banned from his forum (a number I have on good authority runs into the thousands), and people who have otherwise got tired of his bullshit. It's run by 4 of his former instructors, and manages to capture much of the original flavor of the "warrior talk" forum, but minus all of GS' drama and heavy handedness. Point being, GS is still out there in public, pissing people off on a daily basis, giving the PP forum a constant influx of new members, and with no end in sight. A lot of parallels between that forum and this one.

Meanwhile, KDT just isn't getting it done for us, these days.

In that context, I see your point. At first, I thought you were suggesting we once again become his followers, to which I would politely decline. :D

I've just been busy as hell lately. Go-lives & updates at work, family drama, one good friend in and out of the hospital, another friend in a situation that has me looking for a quiet deal on quicklime, and probably some other side issues I'm forgetting at the moment... About the only time I have to do anything on the internet recently is to share links on FB.

I was pretty much done with the KDT thing; the outsized ego etc. It was turning out the same here with the Chris thing, too. I really like it the way things run right now. Nobody here is beating their own drum to advance themselves or preening all the time. If we really need a polarizing presence to stay active I suggest we haven't got a good reason to keep associating. I think we do without all that self-aggrandizement.

OG is right, my only concern is that I wish we had more activity, but as has been pointed out, it is summer.
