Yep, and if we don't know the answer, we'll lie like rugs. I'm working on a couple of projects, trying to help the New Mexico Space Museum start a volunteer program, had deaths in the family, spent a fortune in just over a month, and am on the county historical commission. I do drop in at least two or three times a day.TheArmsman wrote: Plus, one can ask questions here, and get an answer, On just about anything.

one can be a Democrat, or one can choose to be an American.

Well, there are also folks like me who have been members for almost 7 years and have 361 posts (including this one).
The old forum (for me the Gunthing forum) had more going on as we would discuss Kim's most recent GGPs, or other gun stuff.
Kim drove membership. Chris, through his blog, drove membership. We don't have a driver.

Well, I'm fairly new here and relatively young too. I don't really have a whole lot to contribute. Anything I know about, someone else here knows ten times more. Unless you want to know about [redacted] regulations as applied to [redacted] controls in [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] modules.
I did have a couple things I was going to post about, but never got around to. I might do that tonight or tomorrow if I have time.

Re: What Happened To Our Community?
In the nearest past dear wife and I have just come off a 2 week road trip last night with limited connectivity. Dad is fading fast so was up in Seattle area visiting as oft as we could and seeing other family as their schedules allowed.
Took the route south from Yakima and down thru eastern Oregon. Been a long time since I've made that drive. Last time it was snowing and blowing. We connected with FlintlockTom and wife for breakfast in Klamath Falls. Went over 139 and down to Reno from there, then down 395. Ahh, the Great American west. So much nothing to soak up!
In general, I've been healthier and getting more active. Connected into this community whilst passing time online circa 2005. I was pretty much housebound with back problems and surgery. As personal details have come to fore amongst us over the years, it seems like a lot of us had some sick/shut-in or limited mobility issues there (and the time to be online).
Glanced a Chris's blog a week or so ago and see he is in a financial pickle and making a Bleg again (Paypal addy and the whole shebang). Wish him well I do. Reckon any assistance from me would be toxic charity this time.
edit to add: Golf TDI averaged 48.6mpg on the trip north along the 5. A/C on most all the way, running 70-75mph. Topping off this morning on the way to work and will see how it did on the higher, twistier route down the east side of the Cascades and Sierras.

Nephew had a similar love of birds and a forestry degree from the UW. Saw him in Seattle last week. He spent some long stretches working bird studies at some remote wildlife areas in the midwest and New Zealand. Had job offers in remote areas and a couple smaller city zoos -- couldn't tear himself away from living in the Seattle area. Wound up working copier and printer repair. Is making a living at it and able to buy a small house for their young family.
