Found a box of old guns needing a home

Post by evan price »

So, I was doing my usual saved searches on gunbroker last week- having a c&r us a bad influence!- when I came across a gun I was interested in. gunbroker helpfully puts at the bottom "more from this seller", and hey, I was interested in them too.
And the guy lives less than two hours away.
After sending some email I scheduled a meetup

Image

Top: 1919 Colt Police Positive 38, 6" barrel, 38 S&W caliber
Middle: 1940 Colt Police Positive 38, 4" barrel, 38 S&W caliber
Bottom: S&W M&P 1905 4th change, 5" barrel, 38 Special caliber, approx. 1929 manufacture

Condition of all is good to very good finish, bores, original grips and mechanicals. Needs cleaned and oiled and a range trip. Best of all is they did not go to the Cleveland gun buy back.

Every one of us should adopt as many orphans as we can.

They all need to be loved and given a good home.

Well done! I have a Victiry model in .38 s&w. Fun caliber.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Oh great googely moogely.

I'm a resident of Missouri now, I don't need individual pistol purchase permits anymore.

Freedom is going to be expensive.

Uh huh. I have a list of things I want when I move to America.

An M14 is at the top of the list, followed by an AR.

Then I want to fill in every standard-issue American service long-arm and side-arm, from 1776 to present. Repros for the older stuff and semi-auto for newer are acceptable, since I want shooters and don't want to spend THAT much. Then we'll work on the non-standard ones like the Johnson. Then pistols.

Somehow I think Mrs D will have some things to say about that, but we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

I believe in Missouri, all you need is a valid driver's license showing residency, and walk into the gun store. Cash is helpful, but cards work fine.

That Smith looks awful nice, but what y'all want with them goofy backward guns up top?

Bastard!
Am I even more of a bastard if I only paid $650 for the lot?

And to top it off, there was a big gun store a block away from the seller's work where we met, and they had six pounds of Alliant 2400 in stock for $22.99 a pound? And I bought all six pounds to split with a buddy. Have not seen 2400 in years!

This is the part where I get to call you a bastard! I haven't seen 2400 in a couple of years, and it's the go-to powder for The Boss's .357 loads. Dunno what I'm gonna do when I run out!
