[First Shirt]

Picked up a "previously appreciated" Savage M-10, lefty, .308 Win. recently. Metal is okay, bore is perfect, but the hardwood stock is "well-used" to be polite. Looks like carried lots, shot little.

Since the stock is going to be replaced anyway, I'd like to convert it from blind box magazine to a DBM. Ideally, it would be done using factory Savage parts, especially the magazines (since I already have a few of those).

It APPEARS that it will be an easy project, ordering parts either from Savage, or from Sharpshooter Supply. Is this actually the case, or have I been standing downwind from the chemical plant for too long? Have heard conflicting reports.

(The project part of this is to either rebarrel to 7/08, for the junior minion, if necessary, or turn it into a pseudo-Scout, so that SM1 will quit plotting to steal MY scout, since she thinks that the forward mounted scope is just to die for.)

A call to either will answer your questions. It depends a lot on whether the rifle is a stagger feed or a center feed. If it's a center-feed, it should be a relatively easy conversion. If you're familiar with Savage rifles (and I'm fairly certain you are, a simple peek at the magazine lips will tell you what you're dealing with. Otherwise, you'll have to measure the action screw distance (or call Savage with the serial number).
