Huh. I wonder if this would make the SP-101 obsolete--Ruger is coming out with a 3" barreled version of the LCR revolver, in .38 +P:

Also, looking at the list, they make an LCR in 9mm. I didn't know that.

Y'know, if they'd make that in an 8-shot .22LR, it would be just about the perfect tacklebox gun. (I know they already make an SP-101 in that configuration.)

Yeah, I know they make it in a snubbie, but I'm talking about an exposed-hammer, 3-inch bbl, adjustable sights version that weighs about as much as a Whopper with cheese.
The alloy frame should make it as corrosion-resistant as stainless, right?

The things they have to do to aluminum to make it stronger, almost always make it corrode more easily.First Shirt wrote:The alloy frame should make it as corrosion-resistant as stainless, right?
OTOH, in order for stainless steel to be strong enough for a firearm frame, they can only put just so much chromium in it (stainless in general is much softer/weaker than carbon steel), which is why a lot of "gun" stainless, is not as "stainless" as say a marine grade of SS would be.

Thanks, I did not know that. Knew that "stainless" is a pretty flexible term, but didn't realize that about aluminum.

I've read that the recoil is punishing, even for people who don't mind recoil. Will the longer barrel help that?
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Funny I find it much more pleasant to shoot than a J frame.Weetabix wrote:I've read that the recoil is punishing, even for people who don't mind recoil. Will the longer barrel help that?
