I seem to have dodged a [strike]shoe[/strike] bullet this time around. The Heinlein character come to life whom I'm courting did not take offense at the cook books I sent her for Yule. I was concerned she might think it was an insult to her cooking skills. Perhaps Drone Seven's luck is contagious...

I was an avid mountain biker at the time, and she wanted to join in. Didn't last very long.

I was in the Doghouse with her long before, and long after, that gift. She actually liked the bike, until she started riding it and realized that it was hard work.

I'm glad she's gone.

Hmmmm......

Hazel?
Wyoming?
Laz (and/or) Lor?
Maureen?
Podkayne?
Anne?
Gillian?
Mary?
Carmen?

Many hours of speculation and guessing games this could become!
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Heh. More the general type than any specific character. Brilliant, self-sufficient, hot redheaded scientist who studies martial arts and knows her way around a gun?

Intelligent redheads seem to be becoming a habit with me. The previous romantic interest was a skinny red headed vegan grad student with a fondness for extreme sports who was working on her PhD in relavistic physics, who was in turn preceeded by an average-looking neurotic redheaded programmer-analyst hopolphobe who has since packed up her cats and moved to Maine.

It's more a matter of selecting the right wife than selecting the right gift. ( How's a new 1,000 gallon propane tank for saying "Merry Christmas" and "I love you"? )

AYUP, that's what I got this last time I married.

A couple of years ago she asked for, and received, a compound miter saw for Christmas. This year, she grabbed the Cold Steel catalog and asked me which knives I liked and/or wanted. She also told me she'd like to go shooting more often and get her own handgun so she can get her CCW when we get the right sheriff (Jay LaSuer) into office.

The sad part about that is, the first thing through my mind is "Why doesn't he have one already?"
