I've used macs for the last 12 years, but I'm no longer crazy about them - don't care about their privacy policies, and android phones seem more advanced and would integrate better w encrypted email I think.
Also our accounting and nutrition software is PC only.
Any suggestions? We may be switching accounting software as Peachtree seems to be very hard to run on anything other than gaming computers.
I don't play games watch videos etc on my laptops.
I was considering one of those surface? tablet pcs.

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Re: Suggest a laptop
If you're not a tech geek, do what the rest of us do: Check the sale papers and buy one you like. If you're getting away from Apple, then they're all about the same. Make sure whatever you buy has the little dizmos you desire. Make a physical list so that when you go to the store you can make sure you cover everything on your list.
Then, when you get to the store, check the list, buy the box and take it home. My current laptop is a Toshiba Satellite and I expect it to last another two years, at which time it will start getting clunky, and I'll start checking the sale papers. There are a whole lot of fairly decent $500 boxes out there, and they're all pretty much the same for basic laptop tasks.

Re: Suggest a laptop
Most any laptop from a big name brand will serve. But if you want something to last a while go for a business-class unit from a major manufacturer, rather than consumer-grade.
I think we've done this before, and it should only be a matter of time until someone digs up Chris' post about manufacturer tiers and laptop quality.
