and forget this 06 nonsense. This calls for opening up the boltface to .532 and a barrel chambered in 458 Lott.
Agree, which is why I lust for some Brevex Magnum Mauser actions. Standard actions are too short for interesting calibers like .458 Lott, .416 Rigby or .375 H&H.

Dumoulin is a reputable manufacturer. I wish I could get a couple of those actions here at that price. I could probably get Zastava actions....
Magnum mauser actions? http://www.fzh-gmbh.de/cms/website.php? ... fenbau.htm these guys build them from scratch. if you order a new dangerous game rifle from the big-name English gunsmiths, chances are it will be one of theirs...
Would an action like this be inappropriate for use in one of those ultra sled/miniature artillery sort of bench rifles? Know what I mean?
This is a step or three below what I had in mind above, but it's interesting. Looks European, sounds Scandinavian, perhaps? The guy appears to lubricate the pad on his front rest??? He's not even looking through the scope when he pulls the trigger, and a very light trigger I bet it is.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

Except "Magnum" in conjunction with "Mauser" doesn't mean what you think it does. Think BIG cartridges. Like Rigby, Gibbs, Jeffery. The Brevex came with a .750 diameter bolt, and had a mag length of over 3.6" You want a Magnum action? Buy a CZ 550 Mag action. It's essentially a Magnum Mauser with metric threads.

Mausers are too sloppy for real accuracy work in general, and very much so for Unlimited class rail guns. You can buy some very tight, very large actions.
