Robin Williams RIP

Post by Darrell »

I just saw breaking news, evidently he committed suicide. Some comedians such as him (and Jonathan Winters comes to mind) always struck me as tortured souls.

He was a regular on the USO tours to Iraq, and he would sit with the GIs during the show, only leaving to go onstage, then coming back to sit with "the good guys."

May he find the rest he couldn't find here.

I never liked his comedy. I thought it was comparable to a meth or coke fueled incoherent emotional explosion.

I did quite like him in his more serious roles like Good Will Hunting and Dead Poet's Society.

Hopefully, he has found peace.

Much of his life was coke fueled, so your instincts were spot on. Very tragic. Another "funny" person who was privately a tortured soul. It's almost a cliche.

We've had suicide hit our membership in recent years. A young man, seemingly with everything going for him, suddenly gone by his own hand.

It is NEVER the answer. Ask for help. Reach out, even if it feels like the hardest thing you've ever done. People will respond.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

I always figured it was just a matter of time. Very sad. RIP

I read a part of an interview with him once wherein he said that movies where he had a beard were much better than movies where he didn't. Good Will Hunting is the one that comes to mind from that description. Can't remember the others.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

I always figured he was bipolar or something, and did his comedic work during his manic phase. His comedy seems very manic, kinda like Jim Carrey.
