Chris kind of pegged it above. I don't know the Hong Kong action crowd, so I can't comment about that.

Much of it was fun. The big screen action was fun. The ideas in the beginning were interesting. I liked most of the soundtrack. It seemed like it wanted to be smarter than it could manage. If you like big, cgi special effects, you'll like the end (probably). Mind-blowing special effects don't turn my crank, so I can't say if they were great or awful, but they were pretty.

I don't regret having seen it. I wouldn't pay to see it again.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

I'm not sure I can see this. It already looks like I can't suspend my disbelief because of the ways they're playing fast and loose with biology. If they're gonna play fast&loose with science, I'd expect some large plot-holes as well.

The circular firing squad was the last straw in that movie for me.

It's a Uwe Boll thing. You could argue that it goes back to , say, Billy Jack movies. I would guess it goes back way further than that. I think Uwe may be the first guy to do it with weapons and trenchcoats though.

I bonded with one of my former roommates over this movie.

Me: "Ooh! Flamethrower's broke!"

Roomie: "Nope, igniter's broken- oh my God, she just sprayed Astroglide on her sword. This movie just went to a whole new level of kinky."

Me: (after she sets her sword on fire) "Correction: Spicy Chipotle Astroglide!"

Roomie: "Please never tell my new boyfriend about that. He'll try to find it."

Thankfully there were only about four or five other people in the theater when we saw it. We riffed on it the entire time.

That happened in Equilibrium, too. At least I think it did because the people who wanted to show me how awesome it was kept skipping through the damn movie. If I want to see a movie about a dystopian future where one man turns against the system in the name of justice and violence, I'd like to ensure it stays true to the theme.

But no it was all "Oh! This is the scene- wait, I need to rewind it- damn it! That's the previous track- fuck" from the people trying to tell me how awesome it was.
