One of the best early memories of my childhood was watching Rockford Files in the living room. I would literally line up my little matchbox cars to be ready to re-enact a car chase if it occurred, and I had a Hot Wheels firebird that I would dutifully prowl around the living room floor when Garner drove.

I did the exact same thing. Rockford and Maverick were my mainstays. Also, Emergency, but that was farther down the list.

Are you confused with KMA367 which is LAPD and used in Adam-12?

RIP. I was sorry to hear that he is gone. So many of my favorite actors are gone. Thanks for the info about his past. Glad to hear about his 48 years with the same spouse. So many 3-month marriages.

Time to dig out some of his old movies from the files and watch them again.

Must've been it.
Both Webb and his tech advisers were scrupulously picky about those details, in a good way.
I'm pretty sure I watched a lot more of Adam-12 and Dragnet than I ever did of Johhny and Roy.
There's only so many ways you can defibrillate a heart attack and rappel down to someone before the yawns hit.
And also the fact that when I was a resident there, the scanner was regularly tuned to the LAPD tac freqs during some of the sportier periods.

Though speaking of Emergency, my Old Man used it as a teaching tool. When the accident was a result of someone's poor decisions, he would point out what they did, why it led to the bad result, and how to avoid it. Then, he would stress that it should always be avoided, because it certainly didn't look like they were having fun. Pretty good life lessons for a 3 year old kid.
