Check out "Alaska: The Last Frontier" yet? That one's not so staged it seems.
Yukon Men has some good stuff about life in a village on the river -- and minimal drama relative to other reality show.b

The only thing keeping these shows on the air is a very low cost of production.

Re: Reality television
When you see "Reality TV", you can be damned certain that almost NOTHING about it is reality, except perhaps the weather at the time they're shooting it (snow on the ground, blowing wind, sea-spray, scenes staged inside a house, etc.). Just keep in mind how many takes are needed to get each scene "right"!! Therefore, there's NO WAY IT COULD BE "Reality TV"!!!!
All of you folks addicted to this crap, TRY and grow an extra brain cell (at least more than the 2 you already have). Better yet, shut OFF the damned TV for AT LEAST A MONTH (preferrably YEARS)!!!!

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

The Alaska show with Jewel's (the singer's) family is supposedly a bit more down to earth, isn't it?

In the local 'biker' bar they play a lot of US TV shows, but it's difficult to hear the ( dubbed ) dialog as the jukebox drowns it out.
We had been watching something called LA Ink, about this partially sexy female tattooist with fake plastic tits.
We both like tattoos so I downloaded the first series to watch at home. Big mistake, once you can hear what the idiots are saying it becomes unwatchable, I think we got through one and a half episodes before giving up. The girl is a total airhead and her customers are even worse.

A couple years ago I met a guy who was in Ax Men, the bartender was a fan of the show and recognized him. He said the whole show was scripted, and that he wasn't a lumberjack by profession. I forget what he usually did for a living.
