And hypnotoad is actually a higher caste Himmit.

HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

His M-Day series is allota fun.
In this case, the point is that these aren't bad guys. Or they may be by circumstance, but circumstances can change, or *be* changed.

Kratman's got a lot of rehabilitation to do after what was presented in the first few books, though.
Ooh, a self-followup. Uh, oh.

I've been thinking about this, and I've maybe seen a new parallel of who the Posleen might 'represent'. (Not going to say who.)

Now think of a group that spent too much time under the influence and control of Progressives, such that their institutions were weakened or destroyed, they'd lost the ability to effectively self-govern or self-regulate, and a great mass of unstoppable uncontrollable stupids was effectively in charge.

Who does that sound like?

Some rather more than others.

Didn't Kratman write A State of Disobedience before that one?

IIRC, the first thing he wrote was reams of material that eventually got reworked into ADCP. More a personal obsession than anything else.

Again IIRC, ASoD was written on contract on an idea from Jim Baen... one of those 'you want to work for me? Write me something like <this>' deals. Wouldn't call it a major novel and Kratman doesn't seem to think much of it.

Rhein might indeed qualify as first major novel, hard to say.
