Much like an embarrassing number of wardrobe and furniture pieces are on actual legit but low-budget movies.
I've also seen a disturbing number of Hertz &c. rental cars acquired for stunt use on same, courtesy of some 25-year-old production assistant's credit card, and the gullibility of kids from Kansas who want to work on a movie.
