I know... The last hour of the day yesterday was spent talking about the plan for the next 6+ months in detail.

Anyway to get a background check on yourself? Were you clear about the "same name as XYZ", etc?

The HR lady texted me within 24 hours of starting that process that the background check was clear. I have to imagine that they would bring that up if something popped up later.

The reason they gave you for letting you go should have been a reason not to hire you in the first place. Based on what you have posted, the hiring manager seemed happy with your performance. My guess: a higher-up in the company has a friend (or the relative of a friend) they want to fill this position and the call was made by the higher-up to let you go to make room for the hire.

One would think...
Based on what you have posted, the hiring manager seemed happy with your performance.
I never once had any indication that he was not... After speaking with contractor that was working with me this afternoon (not the idiot from saturday), he agreed.

That is a distinct possibility that I have considered, they replaced the plant manager on Thursday and the new guy flew in Monday.

Course the other thing running through my head is that once again, I somehow fucked something up, like I have damn near everything else in my life... I may end up in a loony bin before this is all said and done.

yeah well, look in the mirror do an after action assessment for sure. Just don't get morbidly introspective. Stuff happens to good hands.

Smile on the way out and ask if you can count on a good reference from the decent guy/manager.

So, you're closer to the oilpatch now? 8-)

Considering what you've posted on here and the amount of good tech advice you've given, I SERIOUSLY doubt that!! You're much too anal about your work to let shitty work through, since your name is attached to such work and you don't want to screw up your reputation.

Unfortunately, reputations in our industry don't seem to mean as much as they did before, YET, you kept your honor clean and did what needed to get done regardless of how long it took - WHICH, NO DOUBT OFFENDED MANY OF THE SLUGS IN CURRENT EMPLOYMENT, INCLUDING SUPERVISORS who have a fat salary supervising a bunch of 'tards raking in the dough - and here you come, COMPETENT IN ALL AREAS and willing to work to get the job done!!!!

Just imagine how many toes/feet/LEGS you STOMPED on without even knowing it????

It is NOT your fault!!!

They COULDN'T KEEP YOU simply because you'd DEMONSTRATED just how incompetent/idiotic the rest of their staff is when getting the job done. IOW, you made them not only LOOK bad, you made them look TERRIBLE and IGNORANT TO BOOT!!!!

They could NOT, NO FRIGGING WAY, keep you around simply because you were putting them to SHAME, ESPECIALLY for the costs/rates they were being paid, and here you come, with OLD SCHOOL values and work ethic and you shove ALL of them into the outhouse toilet!!!

After THAT performance, there's no damned way they were gonna' keep you around (sorry to say)!!!

It's kinda' like a new motorcycle cop is assigned to a squad and he consistently comes in with FAR more citations than everyone else until finally one of the older motor cops comes up to him and asks for his citation writing pen. The older motor cop immediately breaks his pen and tells him that although he UNDERSTANDS what he's doing, he's upsetting the cart by showing up EVERYONE ELSE on the squad, which makes THEM look bad to the Sgt/supervisor. Therefore, his higher performance tends to raise the EXPECTATIONS of the supervisor and cause the rest of the squad to work harder to conform to the new employee's performance.

Of course, there's a WHOLE LOT of other issues involved in this hypothetical scenario, but I'm sure you get my drift.

They didn't let you go BECAUSE of your work ethic and competence, they let you go BECAUSE of your work ethic and several competencies which they couldn't match.

IOW, you made them LOOK bad compared to the new-hire.

NOT. YOUR. FAULT. Even though it SUCKS to lose a job, you're FAR better off not working there in the first place IF they're gonna pull that kinda' shiite!!! Personally, if it was me at that company, I would have PROMOTED your ass, given you a SUBSTANTIAL pay raise, and told you to get the rest of the retards in order or send them to necessary classes IF they wanted to keep their jobs. But that's ME.

YOU. DID. NOT. FAIL.

THEY FAILED YOU!

Consider yourself lucky you're no longer working for such morons!!
