Westminster is pretty pro-2A, relatively rural and republican compared to Baltimore. You should be fine from the airport to her place.

What is BWI going to be like, flying in? Would it be better to fly to Harrisburg, PA or Richmond, VA and drive in?

Not a problem. MD isn't NY or NJ...though the legislature is trying.
Short form: There's no CCW for tax peasants. There's a long laundry list of EBRs that you can't buy. If you move to the state, you have to register any pistols and banned EBRs you bring with you. WRT transport, unloaded, cased, in the trunk.
Flying into or out of BWI should be no problem. Standard FAA rules apply, of course. Unloaded, in a locked hard case. Declared when you check the case. For safety, I use the phrase, "I need a firearm card for this case." Trigger locks are not required...but I recommend going to Wal-Mart and buying the very cheap ones anyway, as it comforts the non-shooters you may run into at the counter.
And outside the I-95 Axis, it's a very different state.
