Buying Reloads

Post by skb12172 »

For all of you reloaders out there. Is it legal for you to sell your reloads? How about if you also ship them through the mail?

There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

There is a specific FFL you need for the commercial manufacture of ammunition. I believe a type 07 FFL covers it as well. The state department also claims you need to pay a fee to them under ITAR.

DO NOT ship ammo thru the mail. Ship it UPS or FedEx.

Without the proper FFL paperwork you are asking for trouble by manufactoring ammo. "Too much suger for a nickel", IMHO.

However, there is nothing that says you can't GIVE ammo to a friend; and your friend can give you something. ;)

I would be very careful about that. Any hint that you asked for only did it for your friends gift and you could be in the sh1t.

Would they get you?
Would your friend keep there mouth shut?
Or would they post on Facebook how much fun they had with the reloads they got from a friend for the price of a bottle of Jack?

Horribly bad idea on so many levels, both as the buyer and seller, but especially as the seller.

Over the years I've been asked many times to sell my reloads, and I've always refused. However, I have helped new handloaders learn the ins-and-outs, and I've led new handloaders into the camp.

Lets say the buyer blows up a gun. Who knows why. How much liability insurance do you have? Let's say the buyer has nerve damage or loses an eye.
I'm not saying your reloads are bad. I'm just saying that stuff happens. May not even be your ammo at fault. But who gets blamed?
Also need 06 ffl iirc. Plus register with state dept ITAR program. Plus pay excise tax on each round. Plus local zoning for an ammo business and property insurance for a commercial enterprise.
Not saying don't do it. But if you do might as well go big because one box or one pallet the regs are the same.
