So, are you upset because they're "tactical", because they're terrible, or because they're jackasses?

It sounds to me like Lurch could use some real instruction instead of trying to copy things that he sees on youtube. One of the things that is stressed in combat shooting is to maintain a scan. Sounds to me like he's just doing it prior to engaging, vice after. It helps to prevent tunnel vision and to assist in spotting additional threats. Unfortunately, I don't think that's what's shown in the highlights on Youtube. With the shoulder drop...could he have been cross-eye dominant?

Granted, he's probably full of crap if he's all "I can tell you what I'd do, but I'd have to kill you." As I'm sure you know from your MARSOC buddy, they just downplay what they do, or say that they're in administration or something.

Oh, I forgot to add, I normally say things like "He's so tactical, he shits picatinny rails" or a variation thereof.

The jackassery is what irritated me. And, that he had "students", and refused all help. (Fair enough ignoring me, I'm a schmuck, but some very good shooters, and very. "Tactical" ones were also blown off.)

That's easy, you fail him and tell him that he'll have to do it all again.

**Edit** I'm sorry, it's a match? You did get his money, right? Simple, he falls to the bottom of the chart. And, if he's technical-ed on a safety violation, you tell him to to leave the range. No sense insulting the guy, simply let the chart do that.

Last year I started hanging around the local USPSA club, just for shits and giggles. Wanted to support them with range fees and I even joined the club. Told them that I was an old fat cop, and I'd come shoot, but all I wanted to do was have a good time. That if I didn't come in dead last, they all sucked as shooters. Then, I'd bring two or three guns, look at what everyone else was shooting, then enter a division where I had no competition. At the end of the match, I'd be all like "I won my division, how did you do?" One day I entered single stack, Major, and found out one kid was also in that division. A young man, about age 12. All the trappings of a serious shooter. He was running a Kimber .45ACP and did a really credible job with his pistol. It was a pleasure to lose the division to that young man that day.

Did he let you take his picture, or was he adamant about deleting his images from your camera due to the nature of his work and how he'd been to Namibia for that Global Crossing thing? Except for the actual shooting, he sounds as big an ass as the one I met in Costa Rica whom we nicknamed "Mr. CIA."
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

We had 3 idiots, out of ten.

One, had a solid 4 second draw, some kind of weird shoulder drop, lurched around deliberately, peered back and forth, before leaving a position, and still couldn't make it through a stage w.o. getting an FTE… (had some poor sod, who had double the points, and half the time, convinced "Lurch was a much better shot.")

Kept talking about "what he taught his students…" and had some guy saying "I won't say what he does, but he's being deployed in 2 weeks…" (Total BS, IMO - never met a military guy or contractor who was surreptitious about what he does.)

Then, we had another guy talking about "how people should really practice shooting", WHILE WEARING BODY ARMOR, complete w. hard plate…

The third was just a typical tactical tommy…

My buddy (the MARSOC instructor) was blaming Costas for "Lurches" behavior - and that will be that shooter's nickname from now on...
Make sure that they fill out the form ID10T for next time, and then have them write it down so that they remember.

That should be read as Form ID 10T.
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

You realize this means, sometime, somewhere, you will be put in an entire squad of w "Mr Tactical who cannot tell you what he does" right?

A squad of BTDT is very entertaining, provided you have a dark enough sense of humor .
