The company regional HQ is in Florien, which is where the offices of the team that is interviewing me is.

Not exactly the middle of crawfish season, but they are available, albeit a little small and pricey. But Mardi Gras is just around the corner. When is your interview?

I dont know really... I spoke with the recruiter today and he said that they are still waiting on the details. He is in AL and they are in LA, and both were dealing with this storm. Plus CLT is closed right now and will be tomorrow too. I expect that I will know something by Friday though.

On the bright side, it does not seem like they had too many, if any, other people that they interviewed that they are bringing down. Considering that they are looking for someone with a pretty high level of IT skills that is willing to work in a lumber mill AND that mill is more than 30 miles from a major population center, I am not all that surprised. I suspect that I may be the most qualified person they have talked to at all about this gig since I both have the skills they are looking for and have worked IT in an industrial setting before.

Well see that is the interesting thing, the job rec that they posted was a mess and really looked like they wanted a SQL dev that could also change out keyboards and mice. But what they REALLY wanted was an IT generalist to deal with the day to day that could also look at and understand SQL code enough to make changes and run reports without being babysat... Which means that the vast majority of the people that applied were probably heavy SQL guys with no real understanding of generalist IT, you know the kind of people that do not do well outside of an office building.

Thankfully the recruiter that reached out to me was smart enough to actually change the rec a bit and look for what they wanted instead of what they wrote.

I think that they really knew I was on the same page as them when I asked them if I was correct in my understanding that this place was not a place where wearing a necktie was allowed due to safety reasons.
