As far as the main subject goes...I think this could be a good thing. Anything that draws people towards normalizing firearms is generally a positive for gun folks. Likewise, this has the potential of swaying some of those more hippie-minded folks- they might realize that hunting is a normal, enjoyable activity....and might even learn that it's actually GOOD for the environment for a variety of reasons.

Granted, I see several ways that it *could* go wrong, but in general, I'm in favor of anything that gets people hunting and shooting.

I don't think falconry is dorky, as I said, it's win-win.
Any animal that eats pigeons like a peregrine falcon is my favorite.
Being citified, hipsters should be all over that.

I draw the line at egging people into using firearms only at the point that they demonstrate an unshakeable faith in their own omniscience and infallibility.
That would be hipsters in spades.
It's kind of like teaching doctors how to fly private aircraft.

While it could potentially thin their herd, the rest of us will get the blame for the rise in accidents.
It's not a local surfer vs. kooks thing, it's the natural human response to decry anyone else bringing more heat on us from The Man.

Don't knock pigeon gumbo until you've tried it. We ate a bunch of it in college, mainly between paydays. It's cheap, it's tasty, and it's right there on the sidewalk.
